Checking for new translation tasks

This FAQ item will guide a suitably permissioned translator through the process of checking if there are any new/outstanding translation tasks on the site. See the Translation process overview for more information about the multi-lingual aspects of this site and the overall translation process.

  1. Log in to the administrative or back-end part of the site (adding "/adminstrator/" to the site's normal URL) - if you are not already an appropriately permissioned user then read Registering on this site.
  2. Click on the Components menu and in the drop down menu click on JoomFish.
  3. Click on the Translation tab, select your language in the “Language” drop-down box (on the right) and then progressively select Categories, Contents, Menus, Modules, Polls, Poll: Options, Sections and Weblinks in the adjacent “Content elements” drop-down box. This covers all the content on the site that needs translations and identifies readily what items are new or changed.Note this is an exhaustive check – some items might be marked as incomplete because one minor field is still awaiting translation. Also that in some cases (such as URLs or menu titles like Home or FAQ) it might be appropriate to simply Copy the English as the translation. For content items with authors listed please select your name from the drop-down list.
  4. Complete the outstanding translations by opening each missing or incomplete item - see the separate coverage of the translating site content process.
