Contributing to a project...

This FAQ item explains how project members can add a contribution to a project using the ProjectFork online project management tool available on the website. As a member of the project team, you may be responsible for a task or simply wish to contribute a comment to one. Here's how to do it:

Note - You may have received a project email advice reporting some other member's action or comment - please resist the temptation to respond to these emails by "replying" to them - such a reply will not become part of the project. Rather please follow the steps below to ensure your contribution is accessible to all now and later.

  1. Log in to the site, click on the My Projects menu item, and then check that the projects drop-down menu that appears on the right hand side is showing the project you want to interact with. If no projects are displayed then you are not currently a member of a project.
  2. Use the Tasks sub-menu option to choose the relevant task
  3. Under the Task title on the task list, click on the Comments link. This will display any existing comments and open a simple comment field that you can use to enter and save your contribution. Once the comment is saved, an email advice will be sent to all other members of this project. (Once a comment has been created for a task the comment trail will also show on the normal Edit screen for the Task.)
  4. Optionally you can also upload a file using the File Manager sub-menu option - this will then be available to other project members.
  5. You can also change the % Progress for a task on the task list screen - this would generally be done by the person assigned responsibility for the task.
